Jennifer Lompart

Jennifer Lompart is from Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and moved to Northfield in 2001. She has been working in Northfield High School as an ESL (English as a Second Language)/Performing Arts teacher for the last 23 years. She really values and cares for the stories of ESL students. She said that the students teach her just as much about their culture and language as she teaches them.
In 2009, she created the Latino Play Festival, a class where Latino students learn how to act and generally put a play together. Most importantly, though, Lompart said they talk. The high schoolers are able to take the biggest worries, problems, and issues in their life and bring them to the forefront. If they’re comfortable with it, their scenarios could be acted out in the play.
In 2018, she was a recipient of the Northfield Human Rights Award.
